Discontinuing This One

Hey all,

I have been really struggling with this blog.

To be honest, I think that it has been hard to keep up with posting here because I would rather write short blurbs about my life and not long stories about events, etc.

I will keep this one up should I ever come back to it, but I will be starting a blog about things close to my heart: Music, Movies, and Moods.
It will be about hip hop, pop, Beyonce, indie movies and huge blockbusters, and part psychology.

Look for it on my Facebook once I have finished it.

Keeping Up

I'm keeping up with my blog post minimum among other things. This is not a bad thing.

I have almost shaken the funk that I have been in lately. I have not been ill, but I have just felt out of it lately. I'm starting to feel like I know myself again.

Maybe going home for a day and doing yard work with family helped me feel grounded again. My brother and I cut down a large tree branch which was growing too far out towards the roof. As it was falling, it swung towards the ladder that I was standing on. I jumped off the ladder to avoid getting smacked in the face and smashed. My brother and mom were thoroughly amused. (The ladder was an average size but we were using a very long pole with the blade at the end, so it wasn't a huge leap.) All in all, it will be a family story now haha.

Maybe it was the funny encounter tonight with God's creatures.
Tonight a white dog about 70 lbs. walked right up to me as I was taking out the trash. He seemed to be lost. There was no one around and he had no collar. He sniffed me and was going to move on. It was an interesting experience because I don't encounter animals on a daily basis as we don't have pets in the apt and I'm in a school. I run and get Kyle who is excellent with dogs and we follow him around the buildings for a few minutes. The dog seems to know his way home but almost gets into a fight with a friendly little dog being walked home - maybe he felt threatened/it was his turf? All in all we found the dog's home and the owners didn't even know he was missing. Odd experience, but wanted to share it. How does someone not notice that their fuzzy friend is m.i.a.? They were thankful though and I was glad the dog wasn't going to be roadkill.

Maybe it is the fact that I was productive this afternoon as the boathouse. I tell you, football season is a gift and a curse. I love football, but I spend all day tracking my fantasy team...

Backtracking...I gave blood on Friday and it was a success! I did however not eat or drink all day and apparently that is bad lol. I was painting a special hallway at school and then before I knew it, I had to go give blood. The whole donation thing was fine until they were finished and I had to hold my arm up in the air. I then felt light-headed and let the nurse know, who then grabbed wet rags, leaned me back, and grabbed some juice. After a few minutes, I was able to sit back up and finish a second cranberry juice. I ran through those pretzels and animal crackers. Next time, I will read the important emails that are labeled important. After the donation the guys and I headed over to Murphy's to watch the US vs. France game that we lost, but that was to be expected. Tom, Kyle, and I all were able to give blood and get free Redskins tickets to the game next week against the Cowboys. My first NFL game will be epic.

Maybe it is the cool girl who keeps me wondering. This is certainly the most mysterious woman that I have known. She doesn't confuse me per se, she just keeps my guessing.

Maybe the new music is helping. I am currently listening to a couple good tunes but these in particular. It is the return or Kelly Clarkson. Where you been girl?
Michael Buble = Feeling Good
Kelly Clarkson = Mr. Know It All
David Guetta and Usher = Without You

As usual, this is my train of thought and thank you for keeping up with it. ;)

Last note is a note to self. Wow, everyone is about to give birth. Tom and Kim, and Ken and Ashley will both be having their first next month and both couples will have girls. Excited for them, but wow I cannot relate. I am certainly in a different place.

Also, must resist getting the new iphone. I have an upgrade and all, but I would rather have a phone that is 4G. Must resist...

Love you guys and will remember you in prayer. I keep up with you via facebook, but I will also reach out to ya.

Return of the Blog! Again!!!

A recap of this weekend will suffice as it is pretty indicative of my life right now.

Life is good. It would be pretty difficult to top everything that is going on right now. :)

Side note: I am currently watching The Walking Dead on Netflix and I love anything and everything zombie related.

Back to the main story...This weekend was something.
Friday night consisted of another wonderful date with a wonderful woman at Clyde's in Chinatown. Then we went on a nice constitutional walk. Back track. 1st date was supposed to be just tea, but ended up being epic at the Taste of DC festival. Thanks for the blessing, God. 2nd date was sandwiches and a perfect carrot cake dessert on the steps of the portrait gallery.

SO! It was Hoco weekend and for anyone who went to CUA, you know that no weekend is bigger for alumni. Tailgating on Saturday was good bro time and catch up time. Casey, Joe, Rob, Matt A, and Matt S + Wegman's sausages and burgers + Leah, Luffy, Kate, Katie W, and Jillian + a couple brews + an epic football score at the expense of my knee = a great start.

The party really got started when we met up with the ladies and Jonathan. Seeing Kara, Jules, and Coll is always a time full of laughter and rap and pop culture references. Don't get me wrong. There were a million people that I saw Saturday at the game, but there was a reason that it took us about an hour to walk from Mil North to the Duf (no exaggeration).

I went home and had dinner with my family at Uno's because my birthday is next week and my brother works on weekends for the most part. Family time is always a good retreat. Practiced my Jerk at Lowe's as my brother picked up some tools btw.

Then back to CUA events. Times + Club Swerve. Club Swerve does still exist, even if there are stupid video games in the way. I picked up Leah and Jen and then we got it started. Good thing the DJ played Live Your Life by T.I. Wouldn't have been as baller without some T.I. So many friendly faces - Kelli Mac, Bonner, Greg, Mark and Dan, Emma, Andrew Fin, Mikey C, and so on. Real people, real love, real ish.
Of course, Nick and Craig, their ladies, Tom and Kyle, and I tore it up on the dance flo yo.

Today (Sunday) was out of the ordinary and a perfect Sunday/way to start off the week. Jackie and I went to Butler's Orchard and had a very memorable day. We had BBQ for lunch, avoided bees that wanted the pumpkin pie, went down a huge slide, went on a hay ride, and picked a great pumpkin - Harold.
Thank you Mark Koury for the idea.

I know this may be slightly incoherent in terms of the organization, but gotta teach tomorrow.

Summer Update

Hey all,

Colleen with her new blog posts more often than I do. Ahem. Sorry about that.

I have a couple mins to blog as I prepare to help the guys move out of their apartment so I figured I would blog since it's been a long time apparently.

So to pick up with the last post, my senior captain was chosen for first team all-met. It's recognition in The Washington Post for the area's top athletes. I am still so proud of her accomplishments.
My rising seniors also have a bright future as their summer rowing club has been performing well.

The old guys that I coach in the morning have a medal and a few second places. Not too bad considering the level of stubbornness from a few.

I am now rocking a blackberry which is truly weird to me. A coworker bought a new droid and gave it to me. Going from a dumb phone to a smartphone was certainly a change. Now I have no excuse to not reply to emails...

Main story:
As facebook shows with many photos (thanks ladies for taking all those photos at the wedding), the Casey and Kate O'Conor wedding was epic! I hardly use that word (epic) but that's how I have to describe it.
All the people that I caught up with was the main highlight of the weekend along with seeing two amazing people start a new stage of their life together.
The night before the wedding, there was a reception: dinner and an open bar at the hotel. ??? Who does that before the wedding? Haha. Definitely lead to good times. Looking at the stars in a hammock with my old housemates, catching up with Fr. Bob, and seeing Rob after the birth of his first, a boy no less! Then we headed to the bar in the hotel for more fun. Casey's aunt totally stole the show haha. Not to mention, we hung out on the girls' balcony and had beers, rapped, and snacked to wrap the night up.

The wedding the next day was held in a gorgeous church. It was fairly new, but was styled in the old gothic architecture. Very cool. One thing that I really liked was that Casey and Kate sat opposite each other on the altar with their respective maid of honor and best man. After the exchange of vows, then seats were switched and Casey and Kate sat with each other. I thought that was a very cool visual representation of how their life had changed - going from two separate people in a relationship to one in union.

They had a live band for the reception which was pretty cool. I was skeptical at first, but they knew what they were doing. Flo Rida's raps were missing but can't blame them for not knowing the raps lol.
The reception was held at a country club setup with a great deck and beautiful views out back. Once again the food before dinner was out of this world. Everything that they did was high class. Sushi, seared salmon, sliders, carved fruit, another open bar of course, and so much more. I'm not doing it justice. There were basically multiple stations of delicious food. I was full before dinner. Dinner was filet mignon. Man we ate well! Casey and Kate chose a pretty country song for their first dance. Good choice Case. It was a night full of dancing, catching up with old friends, lots of margaritas, and just good old times.

I only hope that one day if I get married that all of my awesome, beautiful, and handsome friends will have as great a time living it up at the wedding.

On a side note, the Lord knows I need patience. Help me out with a couple prayers yo.

May post

May came quickly and is ending quickly. Wow.

The high school crew season is now over. I love it, but phew. I have time to workout again and time to harass Kyle.
Of course it couldn't end without some proper drama to make it memorable. However, I am quite pleased with the end results, which are:

Nikki, my senior captain was chosen as Sportswoman of the year, which is a huge award. Fingers crossed for something in a national newspaper.
At Stotesbury, the largest high school regatta in the world (shout out to Philly), my ladies placed in the top 16, for the first time in school history. Gotta love it.
The women made the Final at every regatta, except for one - which is also a step up from last year. A lot to build on and a lot of girls returning = a solid senior boat.

These high notes make me remember why I do it and how much I love it.

The drama mentioned above should be ending properly today, but it sure put a damper to the start of my week.

My morning master's program that I coach is well into the season and we've had a few good rows here and there. It is vastly different from the high school programs. One guy in particular has been giving me a tough time, but hopefully today was also the beginning of his cooperation.
"Every new beginning comes from some other beginning's end." Appropriate for today.
Our first race is a week from this weekend.

On another note, I was offered a full-time contract at the school where I work for Honors Language Arts (holla Colleen). I will brush up on some literature this coming summer.

Life is interesting as always, although not in the dating department as some have asked. Quote Drake, "I'm doing me. I'm living life right now man, and this what Ima do til it's over, til it's over, now it's far from over."
I guess there's a time and a place for everything though, so patience is my virtue that I am focusing on at the moment, which is also not unusual for me.

I hope everyone reading this is enjoying life and staying healthy and happy.

My next post will surely be in June.
